OUR FOUNDER

Anika Joseph is a 30-year-old native of the island of Saint Lucia who migrated to the United States in 2005. Anika holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport and a Master of Public Administration in Health Care from Long Island University. She is passionate about community-based work, social justice, and entrepreneurship. In 2015, Anika envisioned an organization dedicated to empowering women and girls in NYC. Today, she is Women's Empire's founder and Chief Empowerment Officer (CEO). With Women’s Empire, her sense of leadership and driving purpose goes far beyond her authority. As the Chief Empowerment Officer of Women’s Empire, Anika is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and strategic direction, and creating the foundation for Women’s Empire’s purpose, vision, and mission. This role requires her to ensure that Women's Empire is appropriately governed and that business is conducted professionally internally and externally. In June of 2017, Anika was honored as the first Saint Lucian to be recognized as a 30 Under 30 Caribbean American Emerging Leader. This Change Makers Award is presented to individuals of Caribbean heritage demonstrating leadership in the USA. When Anika moved to the United States, she had no idea the visionary and entrepreneur she would become. From humble beginnings, Anika learned the values and benefits of resiliency, taking the initiative, and building change. As a champion for dreamers, Anika hopes to continue her role of mobilizing and organizing as a change management agent. She is also a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
